Overview
Scritch provides practices with Emily, a virtual receptionist who handles every incoming call 24/7. She books appointments, answers practice- and patient-specific questions, and writes structured tasks back into Shepherd for prescription refill requests, medical record requests, and questions for the doctor. With Emily, you can reduce staff workload, ensure no call goes unanswered, and improve client satisfaction without hiring more staff.
How does it work?
Appointment Management – Emily recognizes existing clients by phone number and can schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments according to your specific protocols. For new clients, she creates new client/patient accounts during scheduling.
Smart Transfers to Staff – For emergencies and situations that you’d rather have your staff handle (e.g. scheduling surgeries, euthanasias) Emily transfers the call to the front desk. Clients can also request to speak with your staff at any time, and Emily transfers right away.
Structured Tasks for Staff – For prescription refill requests, medical record requests, and questions for the doctor, Emily collects the necessary details and creates tasks in Shepherd for your team to easily follow up on.
Practice FAQs & Patient-Specific Questions – Emily can answer common questions about the practice, services, and protocols using scripts you’d like her to reference. She can also answer patient-specific questions like vaccination due dates.
Activating the Scritch Integration
Enable Scritch AI in Shepherd
Go to Admin → Integrations.
Find Scritch.
Toggle Enable Integration on.
Send activation details to Scritch
Once the integration is enabled, email team@scritchai.com with the following details:
Subject: "New activation for Shepherd Practice: [Your Practice Name]"

Scritch will reach out to schedule an introductory call and set up a potential trial of a customized version of Emily.
