IDEXX Web PACS: Getting Starting

Set up IDEXX Web PACS integration to send captured images into Shepherd, linking them to the correct patient and SOAP.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Purpose

The IDEXX Web PACS integration ensures captured images flow seamlessly into Shepherd, linking them to the correct patient and SOAP. Instead of a strict step-by-step process, think of setup as a series of flexible checkpoints - you may switch between Shepherd, IDEXX Web PACS, and your capture station as you go.

What You’ll Need

System Access

Make sure you have access to:

  • Shepherd: Admin → Integrations → IDEXX PACS Integration

  • Your IDEXX Web PACS account

  • Capture station configuration

Credentials to Gather Beforehand

  • IDEXX VetConnect Plus username and password

Information Gathered During Setup

As you work through the integration, you’ll generate or confirm:

  • Location Token from IDEXX Web PACS

  • AE Title, IP Address, and Port for the IDEXX Web PACS server (used by your imaging system)

  • Capture Station Settings, including:

    • AE Title

    • Modality Type

    • Institution Name

Setup Checkpoints

  1. Add IDEXX Web PACS as a Destination
Configure your capture software to send images to IDEXX Web PACS.

  2. Register Shepherd in IDEXX Web PACS
Enter Shepherd’s credentials in IDEXX Web PACS and copy over any required tokens or keys.

  3. Connect Your Location and Modality
Make sure your location and modality in IDEXX Web PACS match what’s configured in Shepherd.

  4. Test an Image
Capture a test image and confirm it flows correctly into Shepherd and attaches to the correct patient and SOAP.

Don’t worry if something doesn’t work on the first try. You can revisit and adjust any part of the setup as needed.

FAQs

Does IDEXX PACS integrate with Midmark Progeny?
Yes, as long as Midmark Progeny is running version 1.2 or higher. If you’re on an older version, Midmark offers free upgrades.

How does IDEXX Telemedicine work with this integration?
Once IDEXX Web PACS is live, you can link your telemedicine account. This allows you to send cases to telemedicine, and when reports are ready, a link will appear within the patient card in Web PACS.
