Here's how to connect the IDEXX PACS and Shepherd integration.

Updated over a week ago

This integration is currently in Beta testing.

An announcement will be made when it is available to all customers.

What you need

  1. IDEXX Web PACS location credentials

    1. User ID

    2. Password

  2. Clinic Code

Note: The location credentials can be found under System Settings > Location Information tab in the IDEXX PACS application.

Setting up the integration

  1. Open up 'Admin' in Shepherd

  2. Select 'Integrations' from the menu

  3. Choose the IDEXX PACS integration from the list

    1. This will open your practice's IDEXX integration page.

From the integration page:

  1. Select the 'Add New' button in the Credentials section

  2. Input your:

    • IDEXX Web PACS Location User ID

    • IDEXX Web PACS Location Password

    • Clinic Code

  3. Select the 'Validate Credentials' button

If your credentials are valid, finish up by selecting the green 'Save' button.

Note: If your credentials aren't valid, try again—or contact IDEXX.

After you save, you'll be brought back to the IDEXX integration page. From here, you'll need to activate the toggle in the left column of the Credentials section.

Next, from the integration page:

  1. Select the 'Add Location' button in the Location section

  2. Input the:

    1. Location Name (can be different from the name in IDEXX)

    2. Location Token

Note: The location token can also be found under System Settings > Location Information tab in the IDEXX PACS application.

Under System Settings > Receiving Images tab in the IDEXX PACS application, connect the desired Modalities to the Locations added to Shepherd.

FAQs

How can Progeny dental images be supported in the integration?

To support Progeny in the Shepherd integration, you must change the settings in Progeny so images send directly to WebPACS instead of the x-ray capture software. For Progeny to send to WebPACS, the Progeny software would need to be running on version 1.2 or higher (if they are using a lower version, Progeny support will upgrade this for free).

How can IDEXX Telemedicine be supported in the integration?

Once live with WebPACS, your telemedicine account can be integrated. This will allow you to send a case to telemedicine, and when the report comes back, there is a link to the report available within the patient card in WebPACS.
