We've partnered with Vetsource to provide a Home Delivery experience within Shepherd's workflow to streamline online scripting and provide a complete view of patients’ therapy plans. The integration aims to reduce the steps to navigate between two systems, saving you valuable time.

Vetsource’s Prescription Management brings everything together in one place – creating prescriptions for home delivery, approving orders placed through your online store, or receiving Rx requests from retailers. Your own practice-branded online store, custom catalog, merchant services, and marketing tools give you everything you need to offer convenient online shopping to your clients, anytime, from anywhere. There’s no need to code a website, stock products, or set up an online shop – Vetsource does it all for you. You also get a dedicated customer support team for your clients, reducing calls and freeing up staff time.

Activating the Vetsource Integration

Existing Vetsource Customers

  • Contact the Shepherd team if you are interested in enabling the integration via Live Chat.

  • The Shepherd team will work with the Vetsource team to enable the integration and notify you once it's enabled via Live Chat. The process will typically take 1-2 business days.

New Vetsource Customers

Veterinarian PIN

  • As soon as the integration is enabled, users in Shepherd with the License Type "Doctor" will receive an email with their Vetsource Veterinarian PIN.

  • New Doctor users will automatically receive an email with their PIN when added to Shepherd.

How the Integration Works

Ordering Prescriptions

  • When creating a prescription for a patient, there are two new options associated with the Vetsource integration:

    • Online

    • Online Recommendation

  • We require the client to have a mailing and email address and patients to have their weight on file before proceeding with a new Vetsource prescription.

  • Both options will direct you to the Vetsource platform, where you'll automatically be signed in to your practice account and can proceed to place the prescription order or send a recommendation.

Patient History

  • Home Delivery orders and prescriptions, along with their status, appear on the Patient History, giving a complete compliance history to help you make informed decisions about a patient's therapy plan.

    • Statuses include:

      • Awaiting Approval, In Payment Failure, In Fulfillment, Complete

  • A new Sync Vetsource button next to Lifecycle, allows you to refresh the order statuses or display new orders.

  • Details regarding each order/prescription and any refills are available by clicking the row on the Patient History.

  • The Prescriptions widget in the right column also contains order/prescription information under the new "VETSOURCE PRESCRIPTIONS" subsection.

  • Order/prescription details will also be included in the patient's medical record.
