IDEXX: Ordering Services

Our integration allows you to order IDEXX services straight from a SOAP—and see results when they come in.

Updated over a week ago

We've made ordering an IDEXX service from a SOAP super simple: it's almost identical to adding a normal product or service to a patient's record—albeit with some IDEXX-specific steps that you'll be familiar with.

Adding and Administering an IDEXX service to a Tx plan

If you've added treatments to a patient's record, this part of the process will look familiar to you.

  1. Open the patient's active SOAP

  2. Navigate to the 'Plan' section

  3. Scroll to 'Order Treatments'

  4. Search for and select the IDEXX service you want to add

  5. Select the 'Add' button to add it to the Tx plan

  6. Select the 'Administer' icon

  7. This will generate an IDEXX modal

Ordering the IDEXX Service: Reference

IDEXX has their own unique modal that appears when you add a reference IDEXX service (or services) to a patient's Tx plan.

In the modal, you'll need to:

  • Select the veterinarian

Tip: Not seeing the veterinarian you need? The textbox also allows free text for new additions

  • Add Specimen details (required for some labs)

    • Collection Method

    • Clinical History (optional)

  • Add any notes (optional)

  • Select 'Order'

  • Saving will populate a manifest form in a new tab. You can then print that form and send it with samples.

Ordering IDEXX Services: In-House

Note: If you ordered multiple in-house IDEXX tests, you will want to click the blue Administer Treatments button to bulk administer the tests. This will create one order for all the tests and send it to your VetLabStation.

IDEXX has their own unique modal that appears when you add an in-house IDEXX service (or services) to a patient's Tx plan.

In the modal, you'll need to:

  • Select the device for each service that has been ordered

  • Select 'Save'

  • The service will now be sent to the appropriate device to finish processing the test

Removing an IDEXX Service from a SOAP

If you need to remove the IDEXX service from a treatment plan:

  1. Open the SOAP

  2. Navigate to the Plan

  3. Open the Tx History

  4. Click the 'Undo' button on the right under actions

Note: you'll still need to cancel the lab within VetConnectPlus. This popup will remind you:

Ordering an IDEXX Service Without the Integration

If you've already ordered an IDEXX Service in VetConnectPlus and want to make sure it's added to the patient's invoice, you're able to order services without using the integration.

  1. Open the patient's active SOAP

  2. Navigate to the 'Plan' section

  3. Scroll to 'Order Treatments'

  4. Search for and select the IDEXX service you want to add

From here:

  1. Toggle the 'Administer Without IDEXX Integration' to the on position

  2. Adjust the priority and add additional instructions (if needed)

  3. Select 'Save'

  4. Administer the treatment in the Tx Plan
