Note: Shepherd only supports DYMO printer labels currently. Shepherd does not support Zebra printers.

In order to print your prescription labels correctly, you’ll need to make sure your printer is set up correctly and you have the correct label size.

  • A DYMO printer

  • DYMO Authentic LW Large Multi-purpose labels
This specific label size (2 ⅛” x 2 ¾”) is what is most important here, as the size is most suitable for the formatting

  • For a mailing label, label size should be 1.1250" x 3.5" (1 1/8 x 3 1/2)

Note: You will not be able to customize the font size on the label. We’ve designed the label to contain all relevant information in a readable font.

Step 1: Install the Driver

After determining which driver will work for your operating system and printer, select the link to download it. After it downloads, you’ll need to open the driver installation file and make sure it’s successfully installed on your computer.

Step 2: Hook Up the Printer

Unless you’re using a wireless printer, you need to make sure that the printer is:

  • Connected to the computer you’re using

  • Turned on

Step 3: Add the Printer

Before printing, you’ll need to add the printer as a destination. The process is different for computers running MacOS and Windows. Links to instructions for each below:

To generate a prescription label, you’ll need to either write a new prescription or open a prescription with a refill.

See our guides for:

Step 1: Select the appropriate print button or icon:

  • From within the SOAP, you'll select the Printer Icon

  • From the prescriptions section on the Patient Profile, you'll select the Print Label Button

Your print settings will pop up showing a preview of the label:

Step 2: Select Printer

From the print screen, select your DYMO printer from the Destination dropdown

Step 3: Final Printing Settings

Once the printer is selected, you’ll need to make some quick adjustments before printing.

  1. Select More Settings

  2. Set Layout to Landscape

  3. Select 30258 Diskette as the paper size

    1. Note: Due to a recent update of Chrome, some users may not see the expected paper sizes. If you do not see '30258 Diskette', look for "custom 54.02x69.85mm" until this issue between Dymo and Chrome is resolved

  4. Set Margins to Minimum

  5. Set Scale to Default

  6. Ensure that the checkboxes for 'Headers and footers' and 'Background graphics' are NOT checked

  7. Select ‘Print
