In order to run Shepherd effectively, certain technical requirements should be met by your practice. These requirements include:
Hardware (computers, tablets and printers)
Software (internet browser and 3rd party antivirus software)
Network (internet speed)

Computers and Tablets
At least one computer is required for connection to the DYMO label printer and at least one tablet is recommended for ease of use when making notes in exam rooms, taking pictures of patients, etc.
Computers should have 8+ gb GB RAM, 128+ GB storage, and the latest version of Google Chrome.
We recommend avoiding the following computers:
Computers with Windows 7 or MacOS 10.12 or older
Shepherd is also designed to work on tablets (and even smart phones in a pinch). Tablets should also have at least 4GB of RAM and should be able to run the current version of Chrome, as well as the latest operating system.
We recommend avoiding the following tablets:
iPad Pros pre-2017
Android tablets pre-2018
DYMO Label Printer
You will need a least one DYMO label printer to connect to a computer in order to print prescription labels. Here's a link to our help article demonstrating how to set up the printer as well as the required label size.
Shepherd is optimized to run on Google Chrome. To ensure the best performance, please make sure that you’ve updated your browser within the last few weeks. At this time, no other browsers should be used to access Shepherd.
3rd Party Antivirus
If your clinic uses non-native antivirus software (McAfee, Bitdefender, etc.), here are a list of domains to whitelist:
We recommend internet speeds of > 10mbps per device.
Things to avoid on your network:
Guests/employees using the same internet connection as your Shepherd computers
Practice-wide speeds lower than 15mbps (unless if you’re a mobile clinic)
