Heska: Adding Diagnostic Products to Shepherd

Learn how to properly add and map your Heska Products

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Once the integration is active, you will need to configure diagnostic products within Shepherd to ensure they are available for selection when ordering tests. While you will have access to Heska's full diagnostics library, you likely won’t need all available tests. It’s important to properly add and map only the necessary ones to your Shepherd Products database.

If you already have Heska services in your Shepherd Products database that are not mapped to Heska, we strongly recommend either:

  1. Renaming the existing test to clearly indicate that it is not mapped to Heska

  2. Deactivating all non-mapped products to prevent confusion when ordering lab tests.

Adding Heska Diagnostic Products to Shepherd

  1. Navigate to Admin> Products> Lab Integration Products> Heska Products

  2. Deactivate the 'Show Mapped' toggle

    1. Once products have been activated/mapped, they will display by default when viewing the main Heska database

  3. Search for the Product you want to add

    1. You can search by lab name or code in the main search bar

  4. Select 'edit' from the actions section on the right-hand side

  5. Select the 'Active' toggle to add the service to your mapped products

  6. Select 'Product Settings'

  7. From here, you'll be able to edit the test name, adjust pricing, and customize your product settings

If you would like to add a group of Heska services to your database you can select the checkbox on the left of each service 'Add to Products'. After this, you will need to enable the 'Show Mapped' toggle to then edit/customize the services just added.

Editing/Updating a Heska Product

  1. Navigate to Products under Admin in your Shepherd menu

  2. Select Lab Integration Products> Heska Products

  3. Search for and select the test you want to edit

  4. Select the 'Product Settings' button

Changing Product Status From Inactive to Active

If a product status is changed to inactive by toggling off 'Active' the product will then populate in the inactive status. It does not go back to being un-mapped again.

To activate an inactive product:

  1. Filter Status under mapped tests to Inactive

  2. Select the Activate/Deactivate box to mark the test Active

  3. Make edits to the test as needed
