Companion Vision

Collect client-uploaded pet videos directly into Shepherd to support better evaluations and future AI-powered health insights.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This integration is currently in Beta but we're gearing up for the public launch very soon!

Purpose

The Companion Vision integration allows practices to collect and store client-submitted pet videos directly within the patient chart in Shepherd.

By connecting Shepherd with Companion Vision, practices can streamline video collection, associate videos with the correct patient automatically, and enhance in-clinic evaluations with visual context provided by pet owners.

Companion Vision is also developing AI screening capabilities designed to provide additional insights into a pet’s health based on uploaded videos.

Integration Overview

When Shepherd is connected to Companion Vision, the integration supports two primary functions:

Patient Lookup for Video Uploads

When a pet owner uploads a video through Companion Vision, the system looks up and matches the correct patient information from Shepherd. This ensures videos are associated with the appropriate pet record without manual searching or re-entry.

Automatic Video Links in the Patient Chart

Once a video is uploaded, a link to the video is added directly to the patient’s chart in Shepherd.

If AI analysis is performed on the uploaded video, the results may also be included alongside the video asset for review.

This allows veterinary teams to:

  • Review videos before or during appointments

  • Reference uploaded content directly within the medical record

  • Incorporate video context into clinical decision-making
