The integration between Shepherd and Vetcove Home Delivery, powered by Bitwerx, streamlines the prescription approval process for clinics while simplifying the ordering experience for pet parents.

While Vetcove currently has a waitlist, they are working diligently to onboard clinics as quickly as possible.

Data Connection Overview

The integration between Shepherd and Vetcove Home Delivery, facilitated by Bitwerx, simplifies the prescription approval process for clinic users and the shopping process for pet parents.

    • Each night, Vetcove imports client and patient details from Shepherd into the Vetcove Home Delivery Platform.

    • This includes client contact information, patient weight, status, species, breed, last visit, and more.

  • Streamlined Approval Process

    • Vetcove auto-populates this data, allowing veterinary staff to quickly and efficiently review information without switching between systems.

  • Enhanced Operational Efficiency

    • This integration provides real-time access to crucial PIMS information, improving day-to-day operations for clinics.

  • Prescription & Order Writebacks

    • Prescriptions: Every written prescription in Vetcove automatically writes back into Shepherd’s Prescriptions tab.

    • Orders: Every order placed in Vetcove now writes back into Shepherd’s History tab for a complete view of all ordered treatments.

Activating the Vetcove Home Delivery Connection

Step 1: Enable Vetcove Home Delivery in Shepherd

  • Navigate to Admin → Integrations and select Vetcove Home Delivery.

  • Toggle on the Vetcove Home Delivery Integration.

Step 2: Locate and Send "Clinic ID"

  • In Admin → Clinic Settings, locate your Clinic ID.

  • A Vetcove team member will reach out to collect this as part of the onboarding process.

Step 3: Enable Prescription & Order Writeback

  • Log in to Vetcove and go to PIMS Settings.

  • Toggle Prescription Writeback and Order Writeback on or off, depending on your preference.

Viewing Prescriptions in Shepherd

All prescription writebacks from Vetcove automatically appear in Shepherd’s Prescriptions tab under the patient record.

Prescriptions from Vetcove are logged here, including medication name, quantity, refill count, prescribing doctor, and directions.

Any prescription edits must be made manually within Shepherd.

Viewing Orders in Shepherd

All order writebacks from Vetcove automatically appear in Shepherd’s History tab under the patient record. These writebacks are labeled:"Drop Shipped Order on [Date]"

Order modifications and cancellations do not update automatically in Shepherd. Vetcove is working to add support for cancellations and modifications for order writebacks. For now, practices may manually edit the writeback note in Shepherd to indicate a cancellation.
