The myBalto Charitable Fund is an opportunity to give every veterinarian a critical resource to help pets when they need it most. Whether the client has fallen on hard times or has poor credit, the myBalto Charitable Fund allows the veterinarian to provide care at their discretion without sacrificing hospital resources or contributing to the ever-present compassion fatigue. myBalto's goal is to make the veterinary industry better for our pets, our clients, and our veterinary family.

Signing up with myBalto

  1. Schedule a call with the myBalto team to get started here!

Activating the myBalto Integration

Step 1

  • Login to your Shepherd Portal

  • On the left-hand side, click on Admin and scroll down until you see "Integrations"

  • Select "Integrations"

Click on "Integrations"

Step 3

  • Scroll down the integrations list until you see myBalto and select this integration

Step 4

  • Toggle the "enable integration" button until you see a Green checkbox reading Enabled

WARNING!

If you disable this integration, you will no longer be able to receive funds from the myBalto Foundation!

Step 5

  • Head back to Admin Settings, and select "Clinic Settings"

  • Copy your clinic name exactly as it is listed below (example would be "myBalto Demo")

Step 7 - Head back to the myBalto Foundation Platform

  • Paste this back into the myBalto Foundation

  • Then click on "Verify"

    • If you've successfully connected your account, you will be able to proceed to the next step.

    • If you receive an error message, please review the common mistakes we see:

      • Confirm you did not add another space at the end of your business name

      • Please verify your address that you entered in Step 3 of the myBalto Onboarding process matches exactly with your address in Shepherd.

      • If all of the above still does not correct the issue, please reach out to onboarding@mybalto.com and the team will assist you.

Step 8 - Return to your Shepherd account

  • Now that you have successfully verified your account, let's add the myBalto products to Shepherd.

  • Head on over to your Admin settings and click on "Products"

    • Click on the 2nd tab at the top called "Product Categories"

      • Click the blue button "Add New"

Step 9

  • Add a new Product Cateory

    • Make sure it is ACTIVE

    • Name: 9999 myBalto Foundation

      • Please copy and paste the above, do not add any additional spaces or change the formatting of the text.

    • Parent Category can remain blank

    • Automatically Discountable should remain off

    • Hit "Save"

Step 10

  • Now let's add (1) Product to your new Category

    • Click on the 1st tab "Products & Services"

      • Click the blue button "Add New"

  • Add your first product:

    • Make sure it's Active

    • Product Type => Product

    • Product Category => 9999 myBalto Foundation

      • Search for this category (see step 10 if you have any issues)

    • Invoice Line Item Name (formerly Display Name) => myBalto Foundation Donation

      • Please copy and paste the name above

    • Linked Inventory Item => Uncheck

    • Product Price

      • Selling prices => $1.00

      • Min price => $1.00

      • Dispensing Fee => Other

      • Dispensing Fee Amount => $0.00

    • Discharge Instructions => No

    • Automatic Task => No

    • Included in Medical Record => No

    • Product Default Directions => No

    • Other:

      • Controlled => Uncheck

      • Automatically Discountable => Uncheck

      • Taxable => Uncheck

      • Included on Invoice => Check

    • Hit SAVE

  • Add your second product:

    • Make sure it's Active

    • Product Type => Product

    • Product Category => 9999 myBalto Foundation

      • Search for this category (see step 10 if you have any issues)

    • Invoice Line Item Name (formerly Display Name) => myBalto Foundation Round Up

      • Please copy and paste the name above

    • Linked Inventory Item => Uncheck

    • Product Price

      • Selling prices => $0.01

      • Min price => $0.01

      • Dispensing Fee => Other

      • Dispensing Fee Amount => $0.00

    • Discharge Instructions => No

    • Automatic Task => No

    • Included in Medical Record => No

    • Product Default Directions => No

    • Other:

      • Controlled => Uncheck

      • Automatically Discountable => Uncheck

      • Taxable => Uncheck

      • Included on Invoice => Check

    • Hit SAVE

How Does it Work?

  • At checkout, if a client wishes to donate to your myBalto charity fund, add the myBalto products to a client's invoice.

    • Add the myBalto Foundation Donation product if a client is donating a set dollar amount

    • Add the myBalto Foundation Round Up product if a client would like to round up their bill to the nearest dollar

  • Adjust the quantity depending on the amount the client would like to donate

For example, for a $5 donation, add the myBalto Foundation Donation product and set the quantity to 5.

As another example, if a client would like to round up their bill, first you will have to calculate the number of cents it will take to bring the total bill to the nearest dollar.

For this invoice, the round up donation would be $0.75, therefore you would add the myBalto Foundation Round Up product and set the quantity to 75.

How much does it cost to use the myBalto Charitable Fund?

myBalto's goal is to help as many vet hospitals as we can and the best way to do that is to offer the myBalto Charitable Fund as a FREE service. However, to help cover overhead costs and software fees, myBalto takes between 5% - 8% of the funds accumulated by each hospital, and is reviewed semi-annually by the Board of Directors.
