Purpose
The IDEXX Web PACS integration allows captured images to flow directly into Shepherd and link to the correct patient and SOAP. This guide walks you through creating credentials, connecting a location, registering modalities, and configuring your capture station.
Create Credentials in IDEXX Web PACS
Log into IDEXX Web PACS using your IDEXX VetConnect Plus credentials.
Select the Gear icon in the top right corner
Go to Location Information.
Select Add User ID and Password.
Enter a source name (e.g., Shepherd) to identify this integration.
Copy the User ID and Password using the copy icons.
Save them securely - you won’t be able to view the password again.
Connect a Location in IDEXX Web PACS
If a Location already exists
Use the existing Location
Copy the Location Token for use in Shepherd
For practices with an existing Location in IDEXX Web PACS, se the existing Location Token in Shepherd. Creating a new location can cause integration issues.
If no Location exists
Click Add Location
Name it something clear (e.g., Shepherd or clinic name)
Save to generate a Location Token
Copy the token for Shepherd setup
Activate the Integration in Shepherd
Within Shepherd, navigate to Admin → Integrations → IDEXX PACS Integration.
Under Credentials, enter:
Username: User ID from Step 1
Password: Password from Step 1
Account Number: your IDEXX account number (SAP number)
Select Validate Credentials
Toggle Active ON
Click Save
Once enabled:
Select Add Location and paste the Location Token from Web PACS.
Add a clear name for the location.
If you make any changes to this screen after the integration has been enabled, you’ll need to re-sync your modalities in Shepherd. To do this, navigate to Admin → Products → Imaging Integration Products and click Sync IDEXX PACS Modalities to re-enable the connection.
Register a Modality in IDEXX Web PACS
In IDEXX Web PACS, select the Gear icon in the top right corner
Click Receiving Images
Select Add Local Modality.
Enter:
AE Title – assigned to the imaging equipment
Institution Name – name registered with Web PACS
Modality – type (e.g., Radiography, Ultrasound)
Location – choose the location from Step 2
Place a check mark in these boxes:
Enter on Radiology Log
Return “Not Requested”
Accept Accession #
Click Register.
Configure the Radiology Computer
Option A: IDEXX PACS (IDEXX-branded software)
On the capture station:
Open the IDEXX Capture Station software.
In Remote Servers, configure IDEXX Web PACS:
Server name: IDEXX Web PACS
Server Address:
54.208.114.60
Port:
11112
AE Title:
DCM4CHEE_MAIN
In dropdowns, set:
MWL SCP: IDEXX Web PACS
MPPS SCP: IDEXX Web PACS
This ensures communication between your capture PC (IDEXX PACS), IDEXX Web PACS, and Shepherd.
The Server Name entered in Step 2 is what will appear in the MWL SCP/MPPS SCP dropdown.
Option B: 3rd-Party Capture Station
If using non-IDEXX software (e.g., eFilm, ViewPoint, MedView):
Work with your vendor’s support team.
Configure a remote DICOM server:
Server Name: IDEXX Web PACS
AE Title:
DCM4CHEE_MAIN
IP Address:
54.208.114.60
Port:
11112
Enable Auto Routing if available.
Enable Modality Worklist (MWL) and point it to Web PACS with the same configuration.
Record your local system details:
Local AE Title
Institution Name
System Modality (e.g., CR, DR, US)
Troubleshooting
If Validate Credentials fails:
Double-check User ID, Password, and Location Token.
Ensure your network allows communication with IDEXX Web PACS servers.
Confirm AE Titles are unique and consistent across systems.
