We'd wager that not every client will have their complete medical history in Shepherd—and that's OK! Thankfully, we've made it easy to put old records in the patient's profile via their dashboard.
To start, open the patient's dashboard. To do that, you'll usually:
Select on 'Client's and Patients'
Search for the patient
Select the patient's name
Now that their dashboard is open, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the 'Browse Files' button. This will prompt an upload dialog window.
Note: It's important to know where the patient's old records are located on your computer.
Tip: We'd recommending making sure the file you upload has a helpful name (like [patient_name]Records[start_date]-[end_date])
To rename your files to something more descriptive:
Right click on the file (can sometimes be done within the upload dialog window, but may require to locate the file in your computer)
Select 'Rename'
Type in the new name
Old Electronic Records
There's a good chance that old electronic medical records will have to be downloaded. That means your best bet is that the records will be in your 'Downloads' folder.
Scanned Records
Scanned records can populate in any number of places, so you'll need to note the destination where the scans are being saved in your scanning software.
Viewing Patient Documents
To see all of the documents in a patient’s record, select the ‘View Documents’ button in the Patient Documents section of the screen. This will take you to a complete list of the patient’s documents.
You can filter the list by document type or search for the document if you know its name.
You can also add a patient's previous records into Shepherd and link your existing reminders to them.
