Hello! We’re so excited to have you on board (and onboard, for that matter), and are keen to help get you and your practice up and running as quickly and easily as possible.

We know switching software comes with tons of challenges, but know that we’re here for you every step of the way—and that includes after we launch.

Shepherd was born out of frustration with existing veterinary software. We’ve combined stellar design with a robust feature set all with saving you (and everyone else in your practice) time and money.

We’re a team with several decades' worth of experience in the veterinary world, so we know what works for practices and what doesn't. If you ever need any help with anything, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Admin Setup

As the bigshot(s) running this show, you’ll need to get some things set up on the back end of Shepherd before the rest of your team starts learning the ropes.

When you’re setting up the back end of Shepherd, remember that this is where a lot of the core time-saving, automatic features of Shepherd live:

  • Discharge instructions

  • Production tracking

  • Discounts

  • Treatment reminders

  • Treatment-specific tasks

  • Appointment types

All of these (and more) were designed to help your practice run efficiently and can be customized to your practice’s needs. Once you get to know how to use them, you’ll start seeing some pretty drastic time savings.

Don’t worry, we won’t make you learn JavaScript or make you boot up your computer’s terminal (we have a stellar team for that). Getting your practice set up mostly involves adding details about your clinic, services, and team.

Help Content Library

Our help content library holds helpful guides for just about anything Shepherd can do (and if there’s not one you need, let us know!). We’ve broken the content down by collections, each with a specific set of groups of articles crafted to help you with anything you may need to know.

In fact, we have an entire collection dedicated solely to learning the ropes of Admin. Each collection is broken down into different sections, and each section is made up of individual articles.

Articles provide an in-depth look at all the fields within certain parts of Shepherd, as well as many tasks you’re able to perform. As a complement to those articles, we also have section walkthroughs that will give a high level guide of how to navigate through the section.

For sections like 'Products & Services' and 'Physical Exams,' we also have articles that are devoted to going a bit more in-depth into each section’s functionality. You should also take a look at those.
